This Idiot Got Nominated For An Award For An Amazing Reason

UPDATE!

Screenshot_20260218_110659_Firefox My post has been knocked out! Thank you to everybody who voted - I am honoured that I was able to even come close to one of the more impactful posts of 2026, by one of my favourite bloggers to boot! Congratulations to both the skeleton and their code machine.

My hopes for this year are to get a few more posts under my belt - and maybe even have something worthy of a nomination for Bloggies 2027? Fingers crossed!

WHERE'S THE POSTS BLOG BOY

Heya Everybody! Apologies for the quiet around here. I've been ruminating in my docs on some enormous blog posts. They say write what you love but I'd caveat that "unless it's very dry theorycraft".

Theorycraft

If any of these see the light of day I'll be more surprised than anybody

In brighter news I managed to finish off a redesign of my website (goblin.zone) so it also functions as a continuous random word generator. Great to have in a tab next to roll20 or behind your GM screen.

GET TO THE POINT

What I'm really here to talk about, however, is that my post on running hacking better has been nominated for the 2026 Bloggie Award for Theory! Thank you to whoever nominated it! It's incredibly validating to see one's work appreciated by others.

My first round opponent is THE Skeleton Code Machine. Their eternal consistency, ever-welcoming tone, practised grasp on game design and deft wielding of aesthetic will surely be no match for my ramshackle bullshit and posting history that could be a case study in survivorship bias, so commiserations to them.

skeleton-code-machine This is the face of the enemy. The good blogging, presumably handsome enemy. I'd draw them with Xes over their eyes if they hadn't already beat me to it. Always one step ahead!

To drop the facade though, to see my scrawlings in a list with such giants of the space fills me with light.

Have a read through the other posts in the Theory category. There's some real treats in there.

Massive props to everybody who's organised this lovely event, as well as each of the damp-browed blogsmiths hewing takes and tacking em-dashes to fill the internet with much needed discourse.

Flabbergasted thanks as well to those brave Audio Argonauts who have grappled with my grammar and podcastified my post for posterity - presumably to be stored in a data centre under the arctic for a dark future where the world is lacking RPG takes.
